Dead to the World

I know he was miserable after a 12 hour flight and being sick all the way, but this is still a funny photo, especially with the hat, which says DEA if you can't tell.

R.I.P.

A Boring Day in IR

Even a pretty average day in an uninspiring location can look pretty spectacular in infrared.I swapped the red and blue channels to get rid of the post-apocalyptic sky and set a custom white ballance using the green grass.

Droplets on Petal

This is one of my favorite macro shots, but I've been struggling with cropping it right. The original is on the bottom. I'd love to hear some opinions.
--Edit
I added the second crop on jmb's suggestion. I had to check the metadata because I do use a lot of flash in my macro work, but this one's all natural light.

Nyah!

Ladies and gentlemen (I flatter myself that there's more than one of you out there), for your viewing pleasure, I present Moonshine, who I had the pleasure to meet recently. I'm not sure how he felt about the experience, but based on his expression, I'm not sure he took me seriously!

See My Mad Ph0t0$h0p Sk1lz

OK, It isn't actually that difficult. If you go through the "Classroom in a Box," It pretty directly explains how to do everything I did here. Just three image layers with a mask and adjustment layer applied.

Moon

What else can I title it? We're a day past full, but it's finally clear this evening. This was done at 500mm, and significantly cropped. It's good enough for the web, though.

Osprey Watching?

This is heavily cropped due to the limitation of my lenses and my ability to sneak through the shallows, but I'm pleased with the way it turned out.

Salvaging Uninteresting Photos with HDR

Events, the weather, and lack of fall colors conspired against me to create a mostly uninteresting sunset on the Skyline Drive. Processing a series through Photomatrix Pro gave me a more interesting sunset than I'd normally be able to capture.

This was created from a series of six images over about eight stops. I'm still learning to use the software, but I can say the tone mapping is a lot easier to use than Photoshop CS3.

Hand Held x2

Here's another one from the Botanic Garden. I'm shocked that it actually came out. This is a very small flower, I was sans tripod, and the stem of the flower was being held off the table where the plant set by attendant who was sitting there. The blue background is part of a banner that was sitting behind the table.

Caught in Flight

I recently took a trip downtown to the Botanic Garden in D.C. Outside, I started following this bee around. I took about 20 shots, before I got this one. It's cropped to get rid of a lot of the background.
